Wood, Leonard
(9 oct. 1860, Winchester, N.H., EE.UU.–7 ago. 1927, Boston, Mass.).

Oficial de ejército estadounidense. Estudió medicina y entró en el ejército de EE.UU. como cirujano bajo contrato. En la guerra hispano-estadounidense, él y su amigo Theodore Roosevelt reclutaron y comandaron al grupo voluntario de los Rough Riders. Ascendió a general de brigada y se desempeñó como gobernador militar de Cuba (1899–1902), donde organizó un gobierno civil moderno. Luego de prestar servicios en Filipinas, fue jefe de estado mayor del ejército de EE.UU. (1910–14). Aunque había promovido la preparación para la guerra, por su calidad de republicano el gobierno demócrata no lo consideró para darle un puesto de mando en la primera guerra mundial. Más tarde ocupó el cargo de gobernador general de Filipinas (1921–27).
